Our project sponsor Nationwide has worked with The Guardian Labs on a campaign ‘A place called home’. With the belief that everyone should have a place fit to call home, Nationwide is committed to building a better society for the mutual good of its members, and the communities in which they live and work together.
An online hub aims to shine a light on stories of individuals positively challenging and taking a new approach to tackling the UK housing crisis. One of the articles feature Oakfield’s Community Organiser Keith! From the start, his focus has been to make sure the community were involved in the project making this new neighbourhood a place that people will want to live.
The article tells readers about how Keith was the perfect person to be a Community Organiser after unofficially doing this role in his houseboat community. For more than three years, Keith has listened to those close to Oakfield. His role has meant that a wide range of views and ideas were included in the design phase and he’s paid special attention to making sure people who don’t necessarily get involved in planning consultations have been able to share their views.
